Global Sources is worth a look if your New Zealand business buys electronics, accessories or connected products. Its Hong Kong shows run at AsiaWorld-Expo beside the airport. Here's how to choose a phase, find relevant suppliers and ask about the details that can make one apparently similar product very different from another.
Which fair suits your products?
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) runs trade fairs across electronics, homewares, gifts, lighting, food and other industries. Its calendar links to each fair's dates, exhibitors and visiting information. These are separate events from the Global Sources shows.
For finished electronics, look at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair; for components and related technology, compare electronicAsia. Home InStyle covers homeware and lifestyle products, while the Gifts & Premium Fair focuses on gifts and promotional products. Search the exhibitor lists for your category before setting aside a day.
Lighting: two fairs, two locations
The 2026 Autumn Lighting Fair runs on 27-30 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. The Outdoor and Tech Light Expo runs on 26-29 October at AsiaWorld-Expo beside the airport. Dates and venues checked on 19 October 2026.
For home and commercial lighting, start with the Autumn Lighting Fair's exhibitors. For outdoor, industrial and technical applications, look at the Outdoor and Tech Light Expo. If you need both, plan travel between the venues rather than booking meetings back to back.
Food brands: meet trade buyers or reach consumers
If you want to meet food importers and distributors, start with Food Expo PRO, which is aimed at trade visitors. The public Food Expo offers a different audience. For a New Zealand food brand, the choice depends on whether you want wholesale orders and distribution contacts or consumer exposure.
For a distributor meeting, bring your range, ingredients and allergen information, shelf life, storage requirements, case sizes and wholesale prices. Explain which markets you want to sell into. Ask which channels the distributor supplies and who would handle importing, labelling and delivery in each market.
Find exhibitors and register
On the fair's website, use "To Visit" to register, or use the HKTDC Marketplace app with a My HKTDC account. Check that your e-Badge has been issued before travelling; some fairs, including Food Expo PRO, require the organiser's confirmation.
Search the fair's exhibitor list or hktdc.com Sourcing, then save the companies, booth numbers and products you want to discuss. Click2Match and Scan2Match, where offered, can help with follow-up and introductions; check their availability dates. To book a stand, use "Exhibit" or "Apply Booth" on the fair's site for eligibility, costs and display requirements.
Buying products or meeting distributors?
If you're buying, send the supplier your product requirements before the meeting and use the worksheet below to record the offer. Keep each photo, sample and quote linked to the correct model and company. That makes the follow-up much easier after several days of conversations.
If you're selling, find out which shops, hospitality businesses or online channels the buyer serves, in which territory, and whether they can make purchasing decisions. Ask what they need to assess your range and agree when you will send it. A contact is more useful when you leave knowing what happens next.
Where to stay and how to get there
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is on the Wan Chai waterfront; AsiaWorld-Expo is beside Hong Kong Airport on Lantau. Check the location of each fair you plan to attend, then compare the daily journey from your hotel. HKTDC uses both venues.
