Importing or exporting
Selling New Zealand products into China and importing goods into New Zealand involve different questions. Our importing and exporting guide points you to NZTE for export support, MFAT for trade agreements and barriers, and Customs, MPI and product-safety services for New Zealand imports.
Visiting a trade fair, factory or business

Establish a local presence

Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao
The Greater Bay Area includes nine Guangdong cities, Hong Kong and Macao. They are close enough to combine in a trip, but business registration, customs, tax and immigration rules differ between Mainland China and the two SARs.

Find the right town for your product
A showroom, a component market and a factory can be in different places. These are a few useful starting points:
- Electronics and technology
- Nanshan has technology and research businesses; Bao'an and Chang'an have manufacturing clusters. Huaqiangbei is an electronics trading area.
- Furniture, appliances and lighting
- Compare Longjiang furniture production with Lecong showrooms, Beijiao appliances and Guzhen lighting.
- Clothing, knitwear and specialist products
- Humen has clothing, Dalang knitwear, Shuikou sanitary hardware and Nanping printing consumables.

What NZGBA contributes
Our recent activities include business discussions, an MBA visit and a New Zealand presence at a local cultural market.
On 15 July 2026, NZGBA met with the Shenzhen Cross-Border E-Commerce Association to discuss cross-border eCommerce, New Zealand-GBA connections and possible future exchange. On 19 August 2026, NZGBA's founder spoke with visiting University of Auckland MBA students about entrepreneurship, Shenzhen and the GBA.
At the Hello APEC Oceania cultural market on 19 September 2026, NZGBA organised the New Zealand section with participating food and product brands, cricket and a haka performance.
