Hong Kong's HKTDC fairs cover very different products and audiences. A Kiwi retailer sourcing stock, a lighting contractor and a food brand looking for a distributor will need different events. Use this guide to narrow the choice, find exhibitors and plan your meetings.
Match the phase to the products you need
Global Sources organises the Hong Kong Shows at AsiaWorld-Expo beside Hong Kong International Airport. For the October 2026 edition, its published programme lists Phase 1 on 11-14 October and Phase 2 on 18-21 October. Checked on 19 October 2026: Phase 1 has ended and Phase 2 is under way. Use the current edition page for your travel dates rather than carrying this schedule into another year.
Phase 1 focuses on consumer electronics, components and gaming. Phase 2 centres on mobile electronics and accessories, smart-home and security products, and lifestyle electronics. A Kiwi retailer looking for phone accessories has a different shortlist from a developer seeking components; begin with the actual product, then check the phase, hall and exhibitor. For homewares or gifts, search the current product directory to establish whether your category is represented rather than relying on an older show name.
Find suppliers and register
Search the product directory by product or category, then narrow the results by show, hall and business type. Save the company, booth and models that interest you. Ask whether you will be meeting the manufacturer, a trading company or a brand owner, and which company would take your order.
Register through the show's website and save the details for collecting your paper badge. Admission is for trade visitors aged 18 or over; the organiser accepts online and on-site registration. Retail and sample sales are not permitted at the show, so arrange samples with the supplier for later. See the FAQ for current admission instructions.
Questions to ask about electronics
Start with the exact model and configuration: the demonstration unit, sample and production order should all match. Ask which power supply and plug are supplied, and request test reports for that model. Take photos of the model label as well as the product so you can match the paperwork later.
For a connected device, ask the supplier to show you the app, explain any subscription and identify where its cloud service works. What still works if that service stops? Ask who provides software updates, warranty replacements and spare parts. These details affect what you can promise your New Zealand customers.
Use the buyer worksheet below to record prices, quantities, packing and delivery. It was made for Canton Fair visits, but the supplier record works here too. Check the New Zealand import and product-safety requirements before ordering.
Thinking of exhibiting a New Zealand product?
Check the current product categories before paying for a stand. Send Global Sources your product range, company location and target buyers, and ask whether the relevant show accepts your proposed participation. Request the exhibitor costs and conditions; buyer registration is a different process.
For food or gift products, compare HKTDC's relevant fairs as well. A busy electronics show is only useful to an exporter if the people attending are the buyers you need.
Getting to AsiaWorld-Expo
AsiaWorld-Expo is beside Hong Kong Airport on Lantau. Many HKTDC fairs are held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. If you're attending both, allow time to travel between them when planning meetings and accommodation.
For several days at AsiaWorld-Expo, compare hotels near the airport or in Tung Chung with the journey from a central Hong Kong hotel. The venue's directions cover Airport Express/MTR, buses and taxis. Look up any event shuttle's operating days and last departure before relying on it. Use the Hong Kong-Shenzhen guide if you're adding Mainland supplier visits.
Meet other Kiwis during your trip
Want to meet other Kiwis while you're in the region? Check NZGBA's Events page for gatherings during your trip, or get in touch with your cities and dates to ask about local community connections.
